Market Update

General - Tietto - Strike - Lynas & Co

Good afternoon

thin markets in Europe because of a public holiday in most places…equities slightly stronger so far, while emtals are a little softer.

Following a relative strong increase of nickel stocks at the LME three days ago, two unusual large falls yesterday and today, to a new 6-year low. Copper stocks, though, were up by about 10% today.

Lots of talk in the press, the internet and even the TV-news about possible effects of a rare earth export ban or at least a quota. Continued big turnover - and mostly price rises - of rare earth stocks, even though Lynas were down a little today.

Lynas - after hours Mahathir made very positive comments about Lynas´plant in Malaysia: He wants it to continue operating, and they will need to find a solution to get rid of the residuce. If he closes it, the rest of the world will hate him - this is the only halfway reliable source of rare earth in any size, outside of China. The ebauty for Lynas: Anybody “hopeful” will need at least 2 years for meaningful production -probably 3 years even and in most cases, longer than that. So the market is chasing advanced stocks like Peak Resources - but they are still waiting on their special mining lease in Tanzania. This looks promising, but the company is a good example for the fact, that any near time production increases of rare earth are highly unrealistic. But I guess, that there will be several government agencies around the world now keen to finance a new player - very different to as recently as 3 weeks ago!

The best news of all of this is, that the punter seems to be abck - continued, very large turnover in Liontown, some strong demand for placements, and now massive turnover in little Peak Resources - and certainly, in lynas - show us, that speculative money is around for interesting projects. The only problem though is to find out, what the punter on the street likes!

Strike Energy - completed a surprise, 12 mill$ capital rasing at 6,5ct. The placement was to be originally only 10 mill$ - because of strong demand, it was increased to 12 mill$ On topn, there were 10 mill shares traded in the market today. It came a sa complete surprise to em - even though I am relatively close to the company. I had hoped for a corporate deal, or / and offtake agreement for gas to enable the compnay to pay back the R&D support ( Strike had, as is common practise, borrowed 5.3 Mill$ on expected 6 Mill$ subsidy ). The fact, that a bank gave them a loan, based on the R&, tells me, that the company had very high expectations to receive this grant - but forever reason, this did not take lace. STX might go to court -. but for now, they have to pay back I think 6 mill$ in old grants - received earlier and still in dispute - but certainly 5.3 mill$ loan before the end of July to Commonwealth Bank. So in a worst case scenarion - which has to be a realistic scenario following recent announcement - 11.3 mill$ will need to pay back, relating to R&D-grants / and or debt.

The good news, though , has also been announced: The company got 5 Mill A$ for an option to a subisdiary of large conglomerate Wesfarmers, to supply /receive up to 20% of the first few years production. This shows you , how concerned Australian manufaturers areabout their gas supply! This is a very positive announcement - but in the first place, the existence of the expected, large gas reservoir at West Erregulla has to be proved by the drill rig, which has arrived and should start drilling over the next few days. Let´s not forget about Haws - very different story: This is an unconventional gas resevoir, and while it´s pretty certain, that the stuff is there, STX need to find a way to extract it profitably. We should know more about this during June, and a final result should be available in July, if all goes to plan. Roughly the same timetable applies to the drilling of West Erregulla. Very exciting times for Strike…and for us, as very long term shareholders ( and largely, suffering shareholders! )We have to give it to the young MD, Stuart Nicholls - he has done everything right so far, I think - but now the prove will be in the pudding for both projects at the same time! So in 3 month time, this stock will be either heavily down, trade at close to 20ct in the case of success at West Erregulla, or 30-40ct in the case of success of both projects! Thes are not really share price targets - certainly, it also depends on the success: Exactly how much gas in Western Australia´s probably most exciting onshore well this year, and exactly how much gas can be m,ade flowing in the Cooper Eromanga Basin. I participated in the placement.

Tietto - announced some more, exciting drilling results from their project in Ivory Coast - 10m of 25,8g is the kind of result, which excites the market and gives great upside to the high grade resource of just over 1 mill oz, within a total project resource of 1.7 mill oz. Other good results were 25m with 2g, and 9m with 4,13g/t. The company will shortly have a 3rd drill rig on site, to speed up the 30.000m drilling program for this year. Definitely one to watch - probably one to own. my fund has a small position in TIE.

Have a nice evening

General - Lynas - Peak Resources - Caravel

Good afternoon

and another strong day for bonds today…

German labor market, which has been very strong for a long time, is stottering somewhat…number of unemployed rose, as well as the numebr of employed people ( due to some statistical changes ). Not a warning yet - but more signs of an accelerating slow-down?

Equities get hurt - but are trading better than at their worst in laste afternoon. Metals are also weaker on this sentiment - but not too badly so.

Officially backed newspapers in China are reporting, that China might well use Rare Earth as retaliation weapon the the trade war. Wll as we all know, at least 80% of the worlds Rare Earth are being produced in China - and the only significant, other producers is Lynas!

Lynas - stock sky-rocketed again today, as signs are getting stronger, that China will limit the export of Rare Earth! If that should come true, the stock´s rise would be far from finished! In German trading, the stock is trading at 3,13 A$ late in the day - on 1 Mill shares traded! As somebody else said today: This is probably Australia´s most strategic company!

Peak Resources - rocketed as well, on the best turnover since 2011! As you might remember, they have finished a feasibility study quite a while ago - but so far, the market in Rare Earth has been so subdued, that a financing was just impossible. Especially, as the company needs higher prices for Nd/Pr still - probably 70 US$/kg or so. Anyway - the price of these things could go there quickly, and even if not - the fragility of supply of Rare Earth has suddenly come back to people´s mind. Peak could be a good punt on China´s export politics…

Caravel - this little minnow reported results of a scoping study, following an increase of resources in April. The resource now stands at Indicated Resources of 393 millt at 0,29% copper, and additional Inferred Resources of 268 Millt at 0,27% - cut-off grade 0,15% . The stripping ratio over the first 5 years will only be 0,5:1…recovery rate 95%. There is upside to the project from ore sorting, as well as from exploration. The NPV7 at copper of 3.00 US$/lb and an exchange rate of 0,72 A$ is just above 1 bill A$ - potentially 50% higher ( I believe ) with copper at 3.30 US$/lb. The problem with the project is, that capex of nearly 500 mill A$ for production of 45.000t of copper p.a. ( and after expansion in year 5, 65.000t ) is within normal parameters - but for small company, probably impossible to come up with. Cash costs C1 look like being 1,45 US$/lb - very reasonable….This little stock can be used as a long-dated copper option…If Codelco´s recent forecast of a copepr shortage of 4 millt p.a. in 10 years time will find more followers, copper could move way higher than 4 US$/lb - and this stock would be swallowed up by some larger entity like OZ MInerals at 10x the current market cap. To be honest - if the bigger boys are serious about their believe in copper, why not take this little one out rather sooner than later?!

have anive evening, and a nice day off tomorrow!

General - Foran Mining

Good afternoon

have had a few meetings today - so just a quick one today:

Consumer Confidence in the States is very strong - even expectations are going up now, and are at a 6-month high. I think the man on the street likes Trump´s strong-man attitude! And still - bonds continue their massive run - US 10 year now at 2,27% only vs 2.8% at year end. and 3.2% in early November 2018! Perhaps consumers are stupid enough to buy his story, and bond investors are not??? Sorry, that´s not nice, but might well be true…

Foran Mining - finally, the long awaited , new resource estimate - and it´s a very good one! They increased Indicated Resources for Mcilvenna Bay by 69% in total - 680.000t on Zn; 267.000t of copper, grade is 10,25% Zn-equivalent for the Main Lense, 6,45% ZnEq for the Lens 3, and the otehr 3 zones at copper rich with just under 2% Cueq. The additional inferred resource containes 200.000t of Zn and 154.000t of copper. This is a pretty big resource, and Glencor now has to do the job to finish the final feasibility study, which should be done some time in the 4th Quarter. I have not had the chance to talk to the company as yet - I will come back with more info, hopefully tomorrow. But I think this is very good news, and confirms the project as large enough to be of interest to investors, as well as to Glencore or Hudbay, their neighbouring smelter. I think a lot of investors have been in here for some time, and quite a few of them might well be stale bulls - normally, this little thing should trade way higher than the current 43 Mill can$, which are a joke, in my opinion…

Have a nice evening

General - Metro Mining - Lucapa Diamonds - Aurelia Metals

Good afternoon

markets are relatively quiet today, as England is putting in a Bank Holiday today, to help swallowing the elction result - and the US on holidays as well.

The European election - thanks god! - did not see the feared-for right wing landslide - though they were certainly the winners of the election! Established parties lost heavily just about everywhere - the worst were the Tories in the UK, ending up with just 9% of the vote!!

I guess european-friendly parties profited from the much larger part of the electorate to actually voted than previously! So we will not be in the crazy situation, that the European parliament would be having a anti-european majority!

A pretty bad eathquake in Northern Peru did not do any serious damage to a few large copepr mines, which are situated not that far away from the centre of the quake.

Iron ore continues to rocket higher…amazing…while one of Vale´s tailings dams is moving by an astonishing 12cm/day - meaning, that it will most probably break rather sooner than later. While teh relevant mine is not producing anymore, this new incident is certainly raising fresh questions…Stcopiles in China saw anotehr significant fall last week, and Fortescue is reporting another contraction of discounts for it´s ore. The big miners are just printing it…Just the additional 4 US$/t price increase of the last two trading days will give Fortescue another 700 mill$ in free cash after tax on a yearly basis! And it will safe Australia again….Without iron ore and coal, Australia would probably be in a serious recession…at least, the states budget would be super-red!

Victoria has introduced a royalty on gold - 2,75%. I reckon that´s not too bad - probably time to do it…Why should gold - contrary to just about anything else - be exempted from a royalty?? For some companies, that´s a lot of moeny, though - Kirkland will pay something like 30 mill$ in royalties on a yearly basis. But again - if you make a margin of something like 1000 A$/oz, why not pay 50$ to the State Government? The only problem with it is, that in the governments hands, the money will probably be wasted…

Prices of Neodynium jumped by about 20% since the Chinese Premier visited a large Rare Earth producer…

Chinese imports of bauxite rose 10% in April from March to a new record…on average for the first 4 month of 2019, imports rose to 8.9 millt p.m. from 6.8 millt in 2018! Looks like our friends at Metro Mining continue to have very strong appetite for the product! Their presentation atlast week´s AGM also showed, that prices have risen to just about the highest in the last 12 month - not to talk about the relatively weak A$, which has given them even more price performance! I still cannot believe, just how cheap this little thing is - and we are not talking a developer here, but a much derisked producer!

Aurelia Metals - announced some very good drilling results today, from the area above the high grade Chronos lode , part of their peak Mine: 24m with 30% PB+Zn, 15m with 35% Pb+Zn etc….but unfortunately, this thing is not big. Neverthelss, good stuff, and the company was in need of some good news, following the sudden departure of the CEO recently, and a bad Quarterly. I still believe, though, that tehre are too many uncertainties in the moment to invest in the stock.

Lucapa Diamonds - the company had it´s AGM today. Fresh from disovering a large 130ct stone in Lesotho last week, the chairman elaborated on their two succesfull diamond mines in Lesotho, and Angola. While Lesotho had a very succesfull ramping up of the mine, the company has so far only produced diamonds from a relatively low-grade area of the mine. The high grade are is located in a part of the pit, which is full of water. To safe water, the company is now waiting to de-water until the water dam is finished in the 3rd Quarter. I believe, that production, even from the lower grade part of the mine, is profitable. But the market might have been disappointed by the fact, that production guidance has been delayed towards the end of teh year, once the full mine is operational. Both plants - in Angola s well as in Angola - are currently being expanded, and mining is shifting one gear highe - in the case of Angola, from 2 shifts to 24/7-operation. In so far, cash flow for Lucapa is currently limited. This should be alleviated by 2 diamond tenders - one for each mine - which are going to take place in the next few days. The brand-new, 130ct stone will not be included here. At tehs ame time, as running the expansion in Angola, exploration there is also running at full speed…so I expect, that the company can afford it! Sounds like LOM have some cash flow issues in the moment - but all for good reason, and I assume, that some cash will be paid out by teh Angla-JV very soon.

Have a nice evening!

General - Kidman

Good afternoon

German business confidence drops again - but PMI is rising. Consumer spending was strong - up by 1,2% in the first Quarter.

US PMI is the worst since 2009 - only just in positive territory! The trade war is beginning to seriously bite Trump-country!

Worries about the trade war have a firm grip on markets - equities weak, metals a little weaker as well - bonds continue their run, and - finally - gold is strong This is no fun…and Trump, with all his trouble at home, needs a win - let´s hope, that he does not need a war! So far, China has played a very diplomatic rule - but it won´t be for long - one day, they will fight back with their own measures on tzrade, lithium, are earth or god knows what. In any case - Apple continues to fall, and that is not a good indication for the trade war ending any time soon.

Iron ore is defying the market so far - I guess investors expect Chinese programs to support the economy mainly in sectors, which are steel-consuming like construction/infrastructur.

Oil is finally getting caught in trade war fears, and is experiencing a heave one-two punch yesterday and even worse, today.

Kidman Resources - Wesfarmers are one step closer to take them over - getting substantial support from Kidman´s JV-partner SQM, as well has already having a board recomemndation from KDR for shareholders to accept. I t would be surprised now to see an alternative bidder coming out of the wood!

I fear no real micro news in our space today, and tomorrow, I will be in the motherland of soccer, and home to Mrs.May !

Have a good evening
